The NIOA Newsletter - January 2026 Edition

Welcome to the 2026 Northern Indiana Operators Association! A big thank you to all members for their support over the years.

2026 NIOA Training Schedule:

January Training, Butler Wastewater Treatment. Date: Wednesday January 14. We will meet at the Butler Wastewater Treatment Plant, 695 East Green Street Butler, IN 46721. Sign-in starts @ 10a, tour begins at 10:30a. Meeting and lunch begin around 11:45a. RSVP for lunch by the end of the day Monday Jan. 12.

CEU’s are included with your membership. CEU Membership is $25/year. Non-CEU membership is still only $10/year. Non-member CEU rate is $5/CEU. The NIOA not only offers wastewater CEU’s but drinking water ones as well. At each meeting we intend to offer 2 technical CEU’s. Membership dues need to be paid before receiving any CEU's. 

This is the time to renew your NIOA membership for 2026 - the registration form can be found here. If your employer needs an itemized invoice to pay for the 2026 dues, please complete the membership form and return it to John Magsam requesting an invoice Please note that Jones & Henry has a new address! Participants can earn up to 12.5 contact hours through a variety of educational sessions, including technical tracks for operators and specialized classes for utility managers, board members, and administrative personnel. In addition to the training opportunities, the event features interactive discussions, networking events, educational tours, and a chance to win exciting prizes.

  • Apr. 16 – Joint meeting with NWIOA, LaPorte (note different training day & Pay attention to schedule, LaPorte is on CST)
  • May – No NIOA Training, participate in the IWEA Wastewater Challenge!
  • Jun. 10 – St. Joe Shooting Club (Annual Clay Shoot)
  • Jul. 8 – Plymouth WWTP
  • Aug. – No Training, join us at the IWEA Annual Conference!
  • Sep. 9 – Pottyshack Golf Outing
  • Oct. 14 – Bristol WWTP
  • Nov. 11 – TBD
  • Dec. 9 – Annual Christmas Training & Luncheon

IWEA Technical Conference, Merrell Brothers HQ. Date; Mar. 5. The Technical Conference will be hosted by the IWEA Collections, Stormwater, Laboratory, Operations & Maintenance, and Residuals & Resource Recovery Committees on March 5th at Merrell Bros, Inc in Kokomo, Indiana. Forum topics will provide a discussion on the core aspects of wastewater conveyance and treatment: research, new technologies, operational and/or maintenance case studies, project design and/or construction case studies, residuals management, resource recovery, laboratory.
